During the press conference after the end of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam on the morning of February 1st, General Secretary and Vietnam President Nguyen Phu Trong shared: “I have attended many congresses, perhaps this is one of the most successful congresses in terms of the content, organization and working approaches that have led to very good final results.”

Quoting questions about anti-corruption works, General Secretary and Vietnam President Nguyen Phu Trong shared: “Sometimes, I’m afraid I talk too much about this topic. But I will continue to address it, despite anyone hating it, addressing it with all my heart.”

According to him, corruption is a big problem that every country has, not only this time but anytime. The problem is “more or less, wide or much”. This is the disease of the people possessing rights and money, not only easily falling into corruption but also nurturing group interest.

Since 2013, when General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was assigned to be the Head of the Central Command Committee for anti-corruption, works in this field has been continuously done, judging many cases and sentencing many central positions in jail or asset confiscation.

“I cannot imagine how many millions of dollars or how many billions of VND”, General Secretary and Vietnam President Nguyen Phu Trong said and emphasized the spirit of “anti-corruption is non-stop and no-forbidden, regardless of whosoever or whatsoever”.

According to him: “In the past, someone felt that when I was weak and tired, this spirit will be brought down. But I said even when the National Congress was only few days close, the anti-corruption is still going on, despite that one can be Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries, Presidents of a big city like Ha Noi or Ho Chi Minh City”.

He also stated that, anti-corruption is not essential to hate anyone, but completely because of humanity: “I repeat President Ho Chi Minh’s words that cutting the damaged branches to save the whole tree, prosecuting some people to adjust, educate and prevent others from violating the rules. Warning is the main, not prosecuting many or brutal”, General Secretary, Vietnam President said.

Also at the press conference, the General Secretary, Vietnam President informed the XIII National Congress Documents were discussed in a rich and systematic manner.

Regarding human resources, he said that the process is thoughtful, important and fair; doing step by step, easy to difficult, wide to detailed, from one thing to another…, so discussion is not much and the results achieved very fast”.

“This time, all voting is done for full of 200 members of the Central Committee both officially and alternately. Today (January 31st), the Central Committee meeting, scheduled for all day but finished in just one session, electing the General Secretary, the Central District Party Committee, the Central Inspector Commissioner very quickly, the highest system”, General Secretary, Vietnam President said.

XIII National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam launched from January 25th to February 1st with 1,587 delegates attending, representing more than 5.1 million Party members nationwide.

Ho Chi Minh City is set to become a center of economics and finance in Asia by 2045, boasting sustainable development and high living standards, a municipal official has said.

Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, told the media that by 2025, the southern hub will become a smart urban area and a city of services, with a modern-oriented industry. It will maintain its role as the economic locomotive and growth driver of the southern key economic region and the country at large.

The city is also projected to take the lead in innovation and creation, with gross regional domestic product (GRDP) per capita to reach around 8,500 USD by 2025 and 13,000 USD by 2030, when the city is expected to become a center of economics, finance, commerce, science-technology, and culture in Southeast Asia. GRDP per capita is then to reach 37,000 USD by 2045.

Phong said that the city has set 26 development criteria for the 2020-2025 period, covering five spheres, including a GRDP growth rate of around 8 percent and the contribution of the digital economy to GRDP to stand at 25 percent by 2025 and 40 percent by 2030.

To that end, it will focus on overhauling its growth model, spurring socio-economic development in tandem with economic development, and boosting scientific-technological development, innovation, and creation, he said

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam believes that in the next 6 days, the outbreak will be sealed in Hai Duong, Quang Ninh and uphold the commitment to stamp out the epidemic in 10 days.

“We have committed together in 10 basic days to control and stamp out the outbreak in Chi Linh, until today there are 6 days left, everyone must continue that spirit”, Deputy Prime Minister emphasized when checking the prevention of Covid-19 in Chi Linh City, Hai Duong Province, on the evening of January 31.

Here, Mr. Dam checked the disease control post on Highway 37 through Chi Linh, the testing facility at the Preventive Medicine Center of Hai Duong province and the Covid-19 patient treatment unit at the Hai Duong Medical and Technical University Hospital.

Since community transmissions reemerged in the nation on Thursday after a streak of 55 clean days, Hai Duong has recorded 157 cases and Quang Ninh 20, making them the biggest Covid-19 hotspots.

Infections have then spread to the neighboring Hai Phong City and Bac Ninh Province, as well as Hanoi, which is more than one hour from Hai Duong, with 180 cases in total.

The sources of transmissions of the outbreak have not been identified, with the first patients confirmed being a man working at Van Don International Airport and a woman working at Vietnam Poyun Electronics Co. Ltd in Chi Linh Town of Hai Duong.

It quoted its sources as saying that iPad production will begin in Vietnam as early as the middle of this year, marking the first time that the world’s biggest tablet maker will build a significant number of the devices outside of China.

The tech giant is also stepping up iPhone production in India, its second-largest production base for the iconic device, sources added, with plans to start producing the latest iPhone 12 series, the company’s first 5G smartphones, in the South Asian nation in this quarter.

Apple is also increasing production capacity for smart speakers, earphones and computers in Southeast Asia as part of its ongoing diversification strategy, the newspaper added.

In Vietnam, Apple is mobilizing suppliers to expand production capacity for the latest HomePod mini, the affordable version of its voice-activated smart speaker lineup. The device has been produced in Vietnam since it was introduced last year.

Apple has relocated some production of the Mac mini, one of its desktop computers, to Malaysia, and the company is also set to move part of its MacBook production to Vietnam this year. Most of its computer production remains in China.

Apple suppliers have been working to meet their client’s desire for more diverse production bases. Key supplier Foxconn injected US$270 million to set up a subsidiary in Vietnam late last year as part of the company’s efforts to expand its production capacity in the country.

Luxshare Precision Industry, a new iPhone assembler that is also a key supplier of AirPods, is ramping up its capacity in northern Vietnam for the HomePod mini to solve supply constraints for the popular device, according to Nikkei.
