Vietnam Tightens Diplomatic Relations at APEC 2022

Many Remarkable Cooperation Has Been Committed

The mission has achieved many beneficial results through the cooperation commitments between Vietnam and the economic powers of the USA, China and Hong Kong and promoting trade relations with the EU, Latin American countries… At the same time, Vietnam and Thailand celebrated 10 years of strategic cooperation with a Joint Statement.

Morning of November 18, the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting 2022 officially opened with the theme “Open. Connect. Balance”. The conference is a place where senior leaders, heads of delegations from 21 member countries meet up and discuss economic cooperation strategies.

This is the first meeting after 3 years of delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, at the APEC CEO Summit taking place within the framework of the APEC Summit Week 2022, Vietnam had highly constructive policies for the common economy.

In addition to the main meetings, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc also met and discussed with leaders of other countries.

The President also had a meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font and French President Emmanuel Macron on the sideline of the conference. This proves that Vietnam always maintains good diplomatic relations with member countries.

Vietnam Becomes A Regional Economic Spotlight

As assessed by Mrs. Georgieva, in the context of the global economic slowdown, Vietnam still maintains a stable growth momentum and is always appreciated for its good resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the IMF report in mid-October, Vietnam’s GDP growth is forecast to increase by 1 point % compared to the beginning of 2022, reaching 7%. Besides, the economy has grown 8.83% in the first 9 months of 2022 while many countries grew slowly or fell into recession.

This result comes from the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, capturing strong demand from trading partners, implementing measures to restore production, retail, tourism, services and control well control inflation. It is predicted that Vietnam will continue to be an attractive destination for many large corporations in the world.

At the end of the APEC meeting, Vietnam and the leaders of other countries signed a Joint Statement pledging to be determined to recover the economy, promote sustainable growth, ensure a free and fair cooperation environment….

APEC Summit Week 2022 has just taken place in Bangkok, Thailand from November 14 to November 19. Participating in the APEC Forum has created favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to access science, technology, environment and advanced levels from developed member countries, and at the same time find strategic and potential partners in international scale.
