Hanoi already has two metro lines, namely Line 2A and Line 3, in operation, which have improved convenience for residents in terms of transportation and alleviated traffic congestion significantly.

Ho Chi Minh City is still in the process of completing its first metro line, Line 1.

It is known that this line will soon undergo a one-month free trial run in the initial month of operation, expected to be early in 2024.

Although the city’s residents need to wait for at least another 6 months, the return of public spaces around Ben Thanh Market and 23/9 Park as the construction sites of Line 1 are cleared has brought encouraging changes to the city’s landscape.

The city’s landscape is gradually transforming as the construction sites of Line 1 metro are removed

The construction of 9 pedestrian bridges connecting the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien Metro station is currently underway

Metro Line 1 will become significantly less convenient without the pedestrian bridges that ensure safe access to and from the stations without having to cross busy roads.

Therefore, out of the 11 elevated stations on Line 1, 9 of them will be equipped with pedestrian bridges. These bridges are currently being constructed simultaneously to prepare for the operation of the project in early 2024.

Expected ticket prices

Specifically, the proposed fares for single trips range from 9,000 to 24,000 Vietnamese Dong, depending on the distance of the journey. Passengers using prepaid cards will be charged 7,000 to 18,000 Vietnamese Dong per trip. The price for a one-day pass is 48,000 Vietnamese Dong, and a three-day pass costs 108,000 Vietnamese Dong (unlimited trips included).

As for the monthly pass, the developer has proposed a price of 330,000 Vietnamese Dong for regular passengers and 165,000 Vietnamese Dong for students. However, this type of ticket will be implemented after the automatic fare collection (AFC) system of Metro Line 1 is upgraded or other suitable solutions are deployed.

Which real estate projects will immediately benefit when Metro Line 1 is operational?

Surely, the projects with the closest proximity to the Metro stations, offering convenient walking distance, include developments in Thao Dien, An Phu, along both sides of Ha Noi Highway such as Lumière Riverside, Masteri An Phu, Gateway Thao Dien, Estella Heights…
