Vietnam Tourism Market Breaking The Ice, Entering Golden Time For Developing

In a recent study from Google, Emily Nguyen, Google representative in Vietnam, said in the last 6 weeks, the number of searches related to sea and island tourism in Vietnam has doubled to the previous time.

Mr. Tran Trong Kien – Chairman of the National Tourism Advisory Council (TAB), said many people are thinking this is a good time to travel because of affordable prices. “With the same amount of money, people will have more value-added services to enjoy. Rarely, people have the opportunity to explore Vietnam without paying much as it is now,” Mr. Kien said. According to him, this is also an opportunity for local tourists to access high quality services that were previously only applied to foreign ones.

In fact, since the end of April, travel agencies and hotels have been aggressively launching many promotions with the average discount of about 20-30%. Most recently, Vinpearl has launched an unprecedented program with a 100% refund for the guests who book hotel rooms and resorts. This amount will be refunded in the credit for services during the stay such as food, spa, entertainment, golf…

In particular, travelers booking at the Vinpearl Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Da Nang – Hoi An from 2 nights or more at the listed price will have free return air tickets.

Another important part according to Mr. Tran Trong Kien is safe tourism. People at this time have a need to travel, but the most important issue that many people care about is still safty. The tourist attractions can do this well will certainly be the first choice.

It was surprising that Seven News (7News), the highest ranked TV news channel in Australia in 2016 reported “Good Going Vietnam”

In the morning news (Sunrise), 7News devoted 5:32 minutes to praise Vietnam’s anti-covid-19 record: “Vietnam is leading the way in protecting its people from the corona virus. The country with 100 million people has just over 300 positive cases and has not recorded any fatality.”

Accompanied by compliments is the scene showcasing the natural beauty and tourism potentials with the breathtaking views of Ha Long Bay, Sapa, Hoi An, Quang Binh Cave, Terraced Fields Hoang Su Phi, Ha Giang, Phu Yen Beach in the Central…

The comments from Australian readers are also great:

Mark Wakins: “Vietnam follows the laws strictly, even if that means sacrificing some freedom in a short time.” (787 likes)

Corey Matthews: “Vietnam has truly led the world in COVID19. As a foreigner in Hanoi, we have seen good leadership from the government since early January. Community stands together and realizes the need to work for greater benefits. I feel so fortunate to be able to live here and have received support from the Vietnam government and community.”

Christine Ricks: “It’s good to know that a country is doing all the right things to fight this virus, maybe we can learn from this.”

Karyn Carter: “I lived in Vietnam about 18 months ago and no doubt this is the truth. Vietnamese really cares of each other and acts like one.”

Susan Gorman: “My son lives there. He was afraid to return to Australia. He chose to stay there because of how they are handling it in a safer way.”

Joan Day: “Vietnam has learned survival skills from the past wars endurance, the notorious Vietnam War.”

Arthur Sianis: “Probably the only government which is honest with its people.”

Micky Thornhill: “Pho killed them all.”

Karen Alice: “Good job Vietnam…”

Even if spending hundreds of millions of dollars on travel advertising, it can’t be as great as how Australian television, 7News, put it.

The beauty of the dry season in Phu Yen

From China’s recovery…

China – one of the world’s Covid-19 epidemic centers quickly showed the recovery of resort real estate when the epidemic is under control. Two months after the outbreak, the JLL report showed that 87% of hotels in China has reopened with the occupancy rate around 30%. JLL’s representative added, although the the travel restrictions and locked-entry from foreign visitors are still applicable, resorts located near major cities are showing signs of recovery.

In the same opinion, Mr. Mauro Gasparotti, Director of Savills Asia Pacific Hotels, said after the pandemic was flattened, the Chinese market only takes about 6 weeks for the capacity to return to 30% and this depends completely on domestic tourists, especially young tourists.

The head of Savills Asia Pacific Hotels believes Vietnam may experience a similar process as China. The recovery of the Vietnam market after the Covid-19 pandemic is expected to follow the V-pattern. This fact is common in the hotel and tourism industry and happened in Vietnam when Chinese and Russian tourists suddenly decreased in the period from June 2014 to June 2015. After this decline, a while later, Vietnam resort market was quickly recovered. However, in the current context, due to the impact of the global economy and the unpredictable movements of the Covid-19 epidemic, a full recovery is likely to take place by 2021.

Safety is an invisible factor. It is important in the tourism industry and people will only start traveling again when they feel safe. Mr. Mauro Gasparotti said domestic tourism demand will play an important role in the coming time, especially, young tourists. After that, the gradual reopening with some countries will boost Vietnam’s tourism and resort real estate industry.

Coastal real estate project that has both high potential for tourism development and can anticipate a wave of supply chain shift from China after Covid-19 epidemic, most typicalally, is Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen with many pristine natural beauty and good regional infrastructures.

Vietnam is facing the greatest opportunity to become a new production center of the world

Vietnam’s industrial real estate market is very active with increasing demand for land and factories from both existing and new tenants.

  • Rents and occupancy rates of industrial zones in large manufacturing cities and provinces have risen sharply in the context of limited industrial land supply.
  • Production will continue to move out of China due to rising costs, trade conflict with the United States and manufacturers’ strategies to reduce dependence on a single market, especially after COVID-19.
  • However, there are concerns about Vietnam’s ability to absorb this new wave of production relocation, as challenges such as transshipment risks and the risk of high tariffs due to trade imbalances, infrastructure constraints and ecosystems of original equipment manufacturers.

This is the time to make a change in Vietnam’s industrial real estate market to take advantage of global supply chain shifts.

The US invites Vietnam to have a dialogue with “Diamond Quartet” to restructure the supply chain

QUAD – short for four-party security dialogue, including the United States, Japan, Australia and India, was launched by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2007. QUAD focuses on cooperative discussions on economic, military and counterbalancing analysis of the influence of China.

The move of the US and the expanded Quad group made world media aroused. Reuters implied the US is aiming to build a national group of “Prosperous Economic Network” and China’s CGTV Television said the US is aiming to move the supply chain away from China as fast as possible.

Before the US’s move, CGTV published the perspective of a political analyst, Andrew Korobko (Russia), on 4/5: “COVID-19 is just an excuse for the US to make the shift and is the basis for the United States to push ahead with the plan to build a prosperous economic network. The “America and friends” plan as Pompeo said is a signal for the transition to begin.”

Meanwhile, Nikkei posted an exclusive news that Apple will produce about 3 to 4 million wireless headphones (Airpods) in Vietnam right in the first quarter of 2020. Has the prosperous economic network activated?

Therefore, as a “young” destination on the national tourism map, Phu Yen is gradually promoting the beauty of tourism by taking “slow but steady” steps. Learning from resort hot spots such as Nha Trang and Da Nang, Phu Yen is focusing on exploiting coastal routes with beautiful, clean beaches and green casuarinas on Doc Lap and Nguyen Huu Tho streets… This area is expected to welcome the 4-5 star hotel brands with full luxury resort facilities to serve both local and international tourists.

Mr. Duong Duc Hien – Real Estate Sales Director of North Savills said, although there are not much development in tourism and real estate, Phu Yen has a lot of potentials to stand out in the future thanks to a series of advantageous factors.

Regarding the regional connections, Mr. Hien assessed Phu Yen’s position to be similar to Da Nang. If Danang is located between Hue and Hoi An with very short distance and easy transportation, Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen is located between the two tourist cities of Quy Nhon and Nha Trang.

“With the cities connecting to this region well, tourists staying for a few days can boost tourism spending here as Tuy Hoa has a strategic location. It only takes more than an hour to Quy Nhon or Nha Trang or 45 minutes to the famous Van Phong Bay”, said Hien.
