Vaccine campaign has been successful…continues to implement “multi-target”

Opinions at the meeting to evaluate the implementation of the National Assembly’s direction in Resolution 30/2021/QH15, conclusion No. 25-KL/TW, dated December 30, 2021 of the Politburo on epidemic prevention and control COVID-19 in 2022-2023, the Government has synchronously implemented tasks and solutions on epidemic prevention and control.

The Government and the Prime Minister have focused on directing the implementation of “multi-target”, especially economic development, ensuring social security while being ready for epidemic prevention and control; direct the comprehensive promotion of socio-economic activities in the new normal state; synchronously implement the program on disease prevention and control in association with the program on socio-economic recovery and development.

Vaccination should be a top priority

The ministry will continue to monitor the situation and update the changes of the SARS-CoV-2 virus so that COVID-19 can be considered an “endemic disease” at an appropriate point.

In the recent time, the whole country has basically switched to a state of risk management in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 128/NQ-CP of the Government, although the number of cases increased, but all three criteria decreased: hospitalization, severe cases and death. The hospital system is still standing strong, increasing its capacity to resuscitate and treat severe cases. “The Ministry of Health is taking steps towards treating COVID-19 like normal patients,” Minister Nguyen Thanh Long informed.

People fully comply with the implementation of 5K, especially wearing masks. We also effectively control the growth of severe cases by closely monitoring high-risk groups from the ground up.

Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, said the number of cases has recently reached 3,000 cases per day, but the number of severe cases has hardly changed (50 cases). Statistics of people who have become seriously ill, recently died, 97.98% have not been vaccinated. The reopening of schools has resulted in children being infected at school and infecting family members, so far about 2.3% of children have been infected and 0.08% have had severe symptoms, mainly high fever in 2-3 days. To date, there have been no deaths of children.

Mr. Chu Ngoc Anh, Chairman of the Ha Noi City People’s Committee proposed strengthening treatment capacity at the facility, removing procedures and instructions for F1 isolation, confirming F0; strengthen the threading of treatment layers.

City leaders of Hai Phong informed from the peak of the epidemic on February 27, the number of infections in the city is going down. The local socio-economic growth continues to grow, serving as a basis to prepare to reopen all activities, including reopening international tourism from March 15. The city strives that in the first quarter of 2022, it will complete the 3rd injection and the booster dose for all people who are vaccinated in the area.

Strengthening the “shield” of the vaccine, ensuring drugs treatment

Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh noted that all of the comments basically agreed with the report of the Ministry of Health and contributed a lot of enthusiastic and realistic content.

The death rate/cases of the past 30 days was 0.2%, down from the previous month (1%), on 1/2 was 0.9% and on 3/3 was 0.1%.

As of March 3, Vietnam has basically completed the first injection for 18-year-olds, the second dose is 98.4% and the third dose is 37.4%. For subjects from 12-17 years old, the rate of 1 and 2 doses were 98.8% and 93.5%, respectively. Complete procedures to purchase 22 million doses of Pfizer vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years. After talking by phone with the Prime Minister, the leader of Pfizer committed to trying to complete the delivery of the vaccine by the second quarter of 2022.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the vaccination campaign has been successful, reaching a very high rate compared to the world, the spring vaccination campaign alone has injected 14 million doses. We are also working on injection 4.

“We have combined harmoniously, rationally, flexibly and effectively between treatment at medical facilities and at home. Disease risk control in the spirit of Resolution 128/NQ-CP is on the right track, step by step proved to be effective.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that due to the good control of the epidemic, the socio-economic recovery and development achieved positive results in all aspects and further confirmed the close relationship between these two tasks; the correct line of the Party when changing the strategy in epidemic prevention and control as well as the implementation of the resolutions of the National Assembly and the Government, the participation of the whole political system, the consent and support of the people and the business community, the support of friends and international partners.

Focus on implementing “multi-target”

In the coming time, we must be prepared with the forecast that the disease will continue to be complicated, unpredictable and difficult to predict with the Omicron variant, difficulties and challenges will be more than opportunities and advantages. The Prime Minister asked to absolutely not be negligent, subjective, lose vigilance, nor panic, closely follow the situation to have appropriate solutions in good epidemic prevention and control, continue to implement safe and flexible adaptation, effectively control the epidemic according to the Government’s Resolution 128/NQ-CP, gradually “normalizing” with the COVID-19 epidemic.

The Prime Minister stated that the focus on implementing “multi-target” is to continue to prevent the spread, focus on controlling risks, reduce the number of severe cases, reduce deaths, and not overload the health system; promote quick recovery and sustainable development; take care of social security; firmly ensure national defense, security, social order and safety.
