An Phu Interchange Progress (October 2026): What’s Open, What’s Left and the New 2027 Finish Date
Short answer: the An Phu interchange (Binh Trung ward, former Thu Duc) is not finished. As of October 2026 it is about 75–80% complete: tunnels HC1-01 and HC1-02 and flyover ramps N2, N3 and N4 are open; ramp N1.1 is preparing its final span; ramp N1.2 and the widening of Luong Dinh Cua street still wait for land. Full completion has slipped from late 2025 to 2027 (Tuoi Tre reports Q3 2027).

An Phu Interchange in October 2026: What’s Open, What’s Left
Drone photos posted by Cau Duong Viet Nam on 16 October 2026 show crews ready to pave the tunnel roof to reroute traffic and preparing the final span of ramp N1.1. Cross-checked with VTV (6 October) and earlier reports, the status of each element is:
| Element | Function | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Tunnel HC1-01 | Mai Chi Tho to the HCMC – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway | Open |
| Tunnel HC1-02 | 480 m, 4 lanes; Ba Dat bridge – Mai Chi Tho – expressway approach | Opened 2 Feb 2026 |
| Ramp N2 | Expressway right turn into Mai Chi Tho | Open |
| Ramp N3 | Mai Chi Tho left turn into Dong Van Cong | Open |
| Ramp N4 | Dong Van Cong to Mai Chi Tho | Open |
| Ramp N1.1 | Mai Chi Tho (from Vo Nguyen Giap) left turn onto the expressway | Final span being prepared; early-October target missed |
| Ramp N1.2 | Link on the Luong Dinh Cua side | Blocked by land; planned April 2027 |
| Luong Dinh Cua widening | About 500 m to 4 lanes | Not started; planned ~30 Apr 2027 |
The city has ordered the remaining land handed over by 30 November 2026, with about VND 1,865 billion budgeted to compensate and resettle 66 households and one organisation (VTV). The Department of Construction put progress at about 75% in September 2026; VTV reports 75–80%.

When Will the An Phu Interchange Be Finished? Three Deadlines So Far
The completion date has been moved at least twice:
- Decision of 28 March 2022: 2021–2025.
- January 2026 revision: extended to Q2 2026 (Dan Tri, 28 January 2026).
- Plan reported July 2026: completion in Q3 2027; N1.2 around April 2027; landscaping, cameras and signage by November 2027 (Tuoi Tre). VTV in October simply says 2027.
Counting from groundbreaking in late 2022, the build has stretched from about 36 to 57 months (Realtique’s calculation). Land clearance on the Luong Dinh Cua side is the main cause cited; ramp N1.1 has also missed 30 June and early October 2026. The 2027 date is still a plan and depends on land being handed over by 30 November.

Scale and Role: The Eastern Gateway With 20,000+ Container Trips a Day
The An Phu interchange is a three-level junction linking Mai Chi Tho Avenue, Luong Dinh Cua and Dong Van Cong streets and the HCMC – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway, budgeted at about VND 3,408 billion from the state budget and run by the city’s transport project management board. More than 20,000 container trips pass through daily on the way to Cat Lai port (VTV).
At the outset the developer expected the project to cut congestion by up to 80% (Dan Tri, 2 February 2026). Today, peak hours still jam because ramps N1.1 and N1.2 are unfinished and work zones still occupy the road.

Why It Matters for Long Thanh Airport and the Metro
Long Thanh International Airport is scheduled to start commercial operations of phase 1 in late 2026 (see Long Thanh airport city), and the HCMC – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway is being widened. An Phu is where traffic from central HCMC and Thu Thiem joins that expressway — Tuoi Tre warned in July 2026 that an unfinished interchange would become the bottleneck on the airport route.
The planned Thu Thiem – Long Thanh metro line also passes through the area, so 2027 could bring overlapping work zones (overview: five HCMC metro lines breaking ground in late 2026).
What the An Phu Interchange Means for East-Side Apartments
Three areas sit right next to the interchange:
- The Mai Chi Tho corridor: projects such as Eaton Park (Gamuda Land) are on this avenue — once N1.1 and N1.2 open, the drive to the expressway and Long Thanh airport gets shorter, with fewer signals.
- An Phu – Thao Dien: home to many expatriates; separating port and expressway traffic should ease Luong Dinh Cua and Dong Van Cong.
- Thu Thiem: better expressway access via Mai Chi Tho, complementing the Saigon River pedestrian bridge on the District 1 side.
We are not putting a price figure on this: the project is not finished and the benefit varies tower by tower. What you can test is peak-hour travel time — drive from the project you are considering to the expressway at rush hour before deciding.
Buying in East HCMC as a Foreigner: Quick Notes
The Mai Chi Tho – An Phu – Thu Thiem corridor has many projects open to foreigners, but the 30% per-building quota and the 50-year renewable term still apply. Get the project’s listing status and the tower’s remaining quota confirmed in writing before paying a deposit — see the 30% quota explained.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will the An Phu interchange be finished?
Under the plan reported in July 2026, the whole project completes in Q3 2027; VTV in October 2026 said 2027. The original target was 2025 and has been moved at least twice, mainly because of land clearance.
Which parts of the An Phu interchange are open?
Tunnels HC1-01 and HC1-02 (HC1-02 opened on 2 February 2026) and ramps N2, N3 and N4 are in use. Ramp N1.1 is preparing its final span; N1.2 and the Luong Dinh Cua widening still wait for land.
When will ramp N1.1 open?
Earlier targets of 30 June and early October 2026 were both missed. On 16 October 2026 crews were preparing the final span; no new opening date has been announced.
How much does the An Phu interchange cost?
About VND 3,408 billion from the HCMC budget, with groundbreaking in late 2022; compensation and resettlement planned for late 2026 add about VND 1,865 billion for 66 households and one organisation.
Will the An Phu interchange raise apartment prices in east HCMC?
There is not enough data to quantify it. The clearest effect is better access from Mai Chi Tho, An Phu and Thu Thiem to the expressway and Long Thanh airport once N1.1 and N1.2 open; the benefit varies by project location.
⚠️ Note: Element status is compiled from Cau Duong Viet Nam site photos (16 October 2026) and press reports (VTV 6 October, Tuoi Tre July 2026, Dan Tri January–February 2026). Dates for 2026–2027 are plans that have moved before and may move again. Month counts are Realtique’s calculation. Market effects are our assessment, not a price forecast; this is not investment advice.
